I See Myself In You… is a multimedia public installation dedicated to the dynamic, diverse community of Liberty City and Miami-Dade County. Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Liberty City and photographic images of African American beach bathers from the 20th Century, this unique installation reflects on the traditions of both past and present with the intention of always looking forward.
The 3-dimensional metal wall sculpture of an elegant woman wearing mirror-reflective sunglasses with her gaze slightly to the sky, is both nostalgic and ever-changing. The handwritten neon text “I see myself in you…” invites the reader to engage with the piece, perhaps to fondly recall someone they adore or something they love about their city.
